We finished the presidents with our current president, Mr. OBama.

 I think the children have caught on that I LOVE chocolate!!!  I will be happy for several weeks!!

This is a syllable count that Mrs. Voss created.  First, we clap the syllables.  Then we sound out the word a syllable at a time and write the sounds we hear.  I tell the kids that this is kid writing and I can read it.  We hope to give them confidence in writing themselves without worrying about if it is the right way!
